Hopelawn   is a residential community   on the   Southern part   of Woodbridge Township.   Hopelawn seperates   Woodbridge   Township from the City of   Perth Amboy.   Hopelawn   has   2 highways running through it us route # 9, and state highway # 184 , as well   as the garden state parkway   are in hopelawn.   warren park which is a county park is in hopelawn, on florida   grove road.  

hopelawn   has   2 major shopping centers.   the bradlees shopping center   is   on route # 9, between   florida grove road and west pond road (route # 184)   includes the following - bradlees, a & p,     discount liquors,   penny lane,     r&s straus, prestige cleaners,pizza hut   mcdonalds, the   pathmark shopping center is on new brunswick avenue   includes   pathmark, and liquor city.  

there are no schools in hopelawn. elementry school children attend port reading   school # 9. middle school students attend   fords middle school.   high school students attend   woodbridge high school.

hopelawn is served by the district #8 hopelawn, and district # 4 keasbey fire departments. hopelawn is served by the hopelawn emergency squad.

the legend goes that when the first few days of woodbridge township, the area between fords & perth amboy, alongside new brunswick avenue and stretching to florida grove road was a rural, grassy meadow owned by a man by the name of luther hope. this land was where cows grazed. the hope family owned this land for many years and it was known by hope"s farm, hope"s field, and hope"s lawn. finally it was called hopelawn.
